"O L-RD, Who are my power and my strength and my refuge in the day of trouble, to You nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, 'Only lies have our fathers handed down to us, emptiness in which there is nothing of any avail! Can a man make gods for himself, and they are no gods? 'Therefore, behold I let them know; at this time I will let them know My power and My might, and they shall know that My Name is the L-RD".
Jeremiah 16:19-21

The War Within Us …

in Breslev,Judaism:,Noahide - The Ancient Path

The war is within us

“And the children struggled within her, and she said, “If so, why is it that I am?” And she went to seek out Hashem. And Hashem said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, and two regimes from your insides shall come forth…”” (Bereishis 25:22-23)

Our sages teach that the “struggle” mentioned in the verse was twofold. Yaakov and Eisav were struggling with each other, and they were also struggling to leave the womb. When Rebecca passed a place of Idolatry or violence, Eisav would push to leave the womb, and when she passed a place of Torah study, Yaakov would try to leave.

As we already mentioned in Parshas Bereishis, aside from the actual story that the Torah is telling us, there are infinite lessons that each person can take out of it personally. And that is the main purpose of the Torah’s narrative. If we needed a history book we wouldn’t need God to write it.

Rebbe Nachman teaches that the struggle between Nations begins and ends with a struggle within ourselves and between our brethren. World wars begin at home, and world peace begin at home.
I thought it best to translate the exact words of Rebbe Nachman. In Sichos Haran 77, Rebbe Nachman says, “The whole world is full of conflict; between nations of the world, between cities, and in each and every house, between neighbors, and between each person and their spouse, children, family members, workers, etc. No one places on their heart the purpose (of life), and that every single day the person dies, for the day that passed will not come again, and every day a person gets closer to death.
And you should know! Everything is one. The personal conflict between a person and his household etc., is also literally the conflict between Leaders and Nations. For each individual in ones household is the aspect of a specific Nation. And they provoke each other, just as it is with wars between nations… Even if one doesn’t want to enter into dispute, and he would rather sit in quiet tranquility, nevertheless he is dragged into the disputes and wars. As we see in the wars between Nations, that sometimes a certain Nation doesn’t want to get involved in the war, they would rather bow to the other nation many times in order to keep peace and calm in their own nation, nevertheless they are forced against their will into the war, for each nation wants him on their side until they end up fighting with him as well.
So it is exactly in a persons individual wars. For each individual is a microcosm of the entire world, everything is within him. Even more so a person and his household or acquaintances; all the nations are included in them and they provoke and struggle with each other. Therefore (since a person is a microcosm world), if a person lives alone in the wilderness, he can literally go insane. This is because within him are all the aspects of all the nations, they are in conflict with each other, and he is torn between them constantly, taking on a different aspect according to the overpowering of one nation against the other, for they are all within him. This can drive him completely insane. But when he lives amongst people there is a context with which the war can play itself out, in each individual he is in contact with in his life, as explained above.
When Moshiach comes, speedily in our days, all kinds of conflicts and wars will be abolished, there will be tremendous Peace in the world and the verse says, (Isaiah 11:9, 65:25) “No one will provoke, and no one will destroy”…”

One who is familiar with Rebbe Nachmans teachings hears here a very powerful message. We are all in the front lines! Each one of us is completely responsible for this war! It is in the hands of each one of us to end it and bring peace to the world and bring the redemption! We need to stop pointing fingers at others, and instead start seeking deep inside ourselves. How is it that I caused this? How can I end it? Is there anyone in my life I can be more accepting of? Can I be more accepting of myself? As soon as I’m able to end this inner war, the outer war is over! Yes those “monsters” who slaughter their own babies and hold it up to the tv camera for the world to see how “evil” their “occupiers” are, and who drag the murdered corpses of their own people through the city streets as a punishment for the sin of trying to save their children, are scary, but WE created them, they are within us, we need to uproot them from the source, get rid of the hatred and coldness from our hearts, start truly feeling and caring for others.

Were I ever to hit my child out of anger, do I have any idea what that’s creating in the world?!

Each hurtful word I direct at someone else is a rocket in their midst, if I coldheartedly pass a starving beggar in the street without giving him a coin or a good word what kind of bitterness is that causing between nations? If someone is expecting a smile or a “hello” from me but I just pass them by as if they don’t exist, who knows how far the consequences reach? What kind of Tsunami am I creating?
But when I tuck my child into bed at night, give him a kiss, and tell him how much I love him, how much sweetness am I bringing into the world? How much hatred have I abolished? When I smile and say good morning to everyone I meet, how much light am I bringing to the world? When I hold myself back from getting angry at someone and instead say words of kindness, wow! Do I have any idea?! We are moments away from redemption…

One good thing, if I may say, that came out of this war is the sense of unity among Israeli’s. So many people opened their homes and hearts to strangers whose homes were destroyed or abandoned during this war. So many others risked their lives to visit and brighten up the lives of those hiding in bomb shelters for a week straight. How many prayers and tears were shed for others? The entire country completely stopped everything for one week just to do one thing, the only thing left in our power to do, something that no Government can pressure us against –
CARE. A ceasefire maybe we can be pressured into doing and be forced to live under constant attack, but our hearts can never be taken away. The Jewish heart is stronger than all the rockets in the world… the Unity within us will soon reflect itself outwards with peace and redemption to all mankind.

Have a safe and quiet shobbas.

I  Believe we are really in the time of Mosshiach, all the signs are here and is up to us to star that peace withing ourselves first. When we start to do our part as HUMAN BEINGS and yield to the laws of Hashem, doing like this article says “CARE” life will be the way was always meant to be, of course is easier said then done for in the midst of our own cares it seems almost impossible to achieve, but is not. And this is where we have to  increase  our EMUNA (FAITH) 100%. This is something we all need in this kind of times when everything looks so bleak. The answer to all this is TORAH and MITZVOT.May Hashem give us whatever it is that each one of us need to accomplish this task of “CARE”.
